Australian Vs Pakistan 1st test: Australia to bat first after rain delay
Afridi is confident of doing well against Australia
Pakistan have won the toss and sent Australia in to bat in the first test match at Lords. Conditions are suited to bowling as it is slightly overcast. Start of play also had to be pushed back by two hours due to a wet out field.
Pakistan are a changed side from the one that lost all matches on the tour of Australia six months ago.
Former captain Mohammad Yousuf is out and so is middle order batsman Younis Khan. Shahid Afridi is the new captain and will be playing his first test in four years. He is confident of Pakistans chances and believes they have found their winnings ways after claiming the T20 series 2-0.
Steven Smith will debut for Australia as will wicket keeper Tim Paine, who is replacing the injured Brad Haddin. Mitchell Johnson returns to the side to boost the Aussie attack.
Australia are the favourites to win this one and the stats also favour them. Australia have won their last 12 matches against Pakistan and the last time they were beaten by Pakistan was way back in 1995.
Pakistan playing eleven:Imran Farhat, Salman Butt, Azhar Ali, Umar Amin, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal (wk),Mohammad Aamer, Umar Gul, Danish Kaneria, Mohammad Asif.
Australia playing eleven: Shane Watson, Simon Katich, Ricky Ponting(c), Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey, Marcus North, Tim Paine(w), Steven Smith, Mitchell Johnson, Ben Hilfenhaus, Doug Bollinger
