India Vs New Zealand 1st ODI highlights
New Zealand romped home to a thumping 200 run win agianst India in the opening game of the triangular series in Sri Lanka. Having been set 289 for victory, the Indian batting line up was destroyed by New Zealands paceman, slumping to 88 all out.
Its wasnt a result that was expected considering Indias batting lineup which includes the likes of Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni. India made a decent start, scoring 39 for the first wicket in the 7th over before Sehwag fell to Mills. Tuffey then crippled India with three quick wickets and a run out to reduce them to 5/53 and leave them with no hope of a win.
From then on things just got worse as the lower order fell like a pack of cards. Jadeja was the top scorer with 20, while Sehwag managed 19. Tuffey picked up 3/34 from 8 overs, while Mills and Oram picked up two wickets each.
Earlier it was the Indian bowlers who were creating all the problems. Praveen Kumar and Ashish Nehra produced good opening spells that saw New Zealand wobbling at 3/27. However Ross Taylor and Scott Styris then took charge combining in a 191 run stand that floored India.
