New Zealand Vs Sri Lanka, tri-series 2nd ODI highlights

A gritty 70 from opener Upul Tharanga has helped Sri Lanka seal a narrow victory in the second ODI of the tri-series against Sri Lanka. Needing just 193 for victory, Sri Lanka avoided a late collapse and got home with just three wickets to spare.

Sri Lankas chase started badly, losing Dilshan for just 5 runs. Tharanga and Sangakkara then came to the fore, engaging in a 85 run partnership, before Sangakkara was removed for 48 on a pitch that assisted the bowlers.

However that did not deter Tharanga who went on to score a half century shortly after. His knock included 9 fours and came of 109 balls. At one stage Sri Lanka were in a comfortable position at 3/162, but things got a lot tense as Tharanga and three others were dismissed in quick sucession. However Samaraweera kept his cool, and took Sri Lanka to victory.

Earlier in the day it was the Sri Lankan bowlers were were creating problems for the New Zealanders. Malinga did the early damage getting rid of Guptill first ball. NZ then lost wickets at regular intervals and never found an momentum. Watling was the top scorer with 55, but there was not much for NZ to cheer about.
