Sehwag gets apology from Randiv over no-ball

Sri Lankan spinner Suraj Randiv has apologized to Virender Sehwag over the no-ball, which denied Sehwag a century. The  match came to a dramatic end on Monday evening when Suraj Randiv bowled a massive no-ball with Sehwag on 99, and India requiring one run for victory.

Sehwag hit the ball for a six, but the runs were not added to Sehwags score, meaning he remained unbeaten on 99. This was due to a clause in the rule which states a match is over if a no ball is bowled with one run remaining.

Randiv overstepped the line by a very large margin, so much so his back foot was almost over the line. Sehwag called the incident delibrate in the post match conference, but said he was happy that India won. “It was clear that the Lankan team did not want me to get to my 100,” Sehwag said.

Sehwag revealed on Twitter that Randiv came to his room and apologized to him. Meanwhile Sri Lankan team manager Anura Tennekoon  has been asked to look into the incident and report to SLC. Any further action will be taken after reviewing the report.
