Asia Cup cricket 2010: Afridi asks Pakistan players to unite
Shahid Afridi wants Pakistan players to be united as they battle it out for the Asia Cup 2010
Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has asked his players to stay united on and off the field during the Asia Cup 2010 in Sri Lankan. Speaking ahead of the teams departure to Sri Lanka, Afridi said that he was concentrating on winning the series.
Pakistan Cricket has had to endure a turbulant phase after loosing every match on the tour of Australia earlier this year. In response to the disastrous performance, Pakistan fined and banned several players – some of whom have returned on appeal. A leading cause for the poor performance was the infighting among playersAfridi added he was looking forward to the future and not making the same mistakes again.
The Asia Cup 2010 cricket tournament starts on the 15th of June with Pakistan taking on hosts Sri Lanka in the opening game, followed by archrivals India on the 19th of June. (Click here for the full schedule).
Pakistan have a busy schedule ahead with a series against Australia and England coming up in July.
