‘Special’ Laxman delivers again – India Vs Sri Lanka highlights

VVS Laxman stood up to the occassion once agian, batting magnificently when India needed it the most. His hundred on a tricky pitch helped produce a win that levelled the series against Sri Lanka 1-1.

Its not the first time that he has saved Indias face.  He has played a hand in many of Indias famous wins including the ones in Perth and Kanpur in 2008, but rarely does his efforts get appreciated.

On both those occassion his innings have been overshadowed by someone else and a couple of low scores always bring out the knife to have him chopped from the squad.

But today Laxman was sublime. First he combined with Sachin to get India moving forward, and then with Raina to bury Sri Lanka. He was flawless on a pitch that provided the other Indian batsmen a bucket load of trouble.

He hardly put a foot wrong, and had to contend with playing with pain due to some back problem. But his perseverence paid off and he was rewarded with a hundred in the dying stages of the match.

Laxman has been in good form off late and India will be banking on his experience as they take on Australia, New Zealand and South Africa in the coming months.
