India Vs Sri Lanka 2st test, day 4 highlights
Sri Lanka are on the brink of victory at the end of day 4, thanks to a brilliant performance by their bowlers. Muttiah Muralitharan and Lasith Malinga were the stars of the day, bowling out India in the first innings and reducing them to 181/5 after enforcing the follow on.
The day started well for India in the morning with Virender Sehwag flowing smoothly. He soon notched up his 20th test hundred, but gave his wicket away moments later. Laxman, at the other end, was solid and looked liked taking the fight to the Sri Lankans. But he did not last long, gifting his wickets to the Sri Lankans.
At 5/178, Sri Lanka were in control, but Yuvraj Singh and skipper MS Dhoni took charge and marched passed 250. It was Muralitharan who then put up a show, getting one to turn sharply to bowl Dhoni through the gate, before inducing an edge from Yuvraj.
The did not show a lot of resistance, and India were bowled out for a miserable 276. Sri Lanka then enforced the follow on, and their bowlers continued to rein.
Gambhir was once again undone by Malinga in the very first over of the innungs. This only increased the pressure on India, but t did not seem to deter Sehwag who carried on in his usual aggressive style. Just when Sehwag looked settled and ready to go for another big knock, he was undone by Chanaka Welegedera.
Tendulkar and Dravid then dug in, but it was Malinga who once again picked up a wicket at a crucial stage. Sachin was removed for 85, while Dravid was dismissed for 44. Yuvraj Singhs second stay was short, out for 5.
India are now in tatters at 5/181. They still trail by 63 runs, with no recognised batsmen to come if a wicket falls.
