India Vs Sri Lanka 2nd test, day 4 – highlights
India are 9/669 at close of play on the fourth day of the second test against Sri Lanka. It was India’s day with the bat, and the batsmen made use of the good conditions on offer. The highlights of the day were Sachin Tendulkars fifth double ton, and more importantly, Suresh Rainas hundred on debut.
Tendulkar and Raina were sublime throughout the first session, scoring briskly and taking India towards 500 runs. Raina brought up his century just before lunch with a beautiful straight drive, while Tendulkar marched on towards yet another double century.
However Rainas stay was ended on 120 when he was dismissed by Mendis, but he sure provided the selectors with a headaech ahead of the third test. Tendulkar meanwhile has a tame ending, caught out shortly after bringing up his double ton. He was dismissed by Dilshan, who managed to induce a very thin edge that hit his pad and popped to bat pad.
Given the conditions of the pitch at Colombo, a draw is probably the best bat. But you never know what can happen on the last day, outcomes have been changed dramatically in the past.
