Crafty Martinez Sanchez Beats Jankovic for WTA Rome Crown
Iberian Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez won her third WTA title yesterday, having defeated Jelena Jankovic of Serbia with a score of 7-6 (5) 7-5 at the tournament final in Rome.
27-year-old tennis player defeated the former and seventh winner of the tournament favorites, Jelena Jankovic, turning the score 2-5 from the first set.
Martinez Sanchez was led by 5-3 in the second set, but managed to return again and to imposed score 7-5.
Martinez Sanchez of Spain becomes the first player to win the title in Rome since successful Conchita Martinez in 1996.
The match won in the Italian capital is the most important victory Murcia’s career. This will propel her into the top 20 WTA
