According to reports, her yatch ‘Wild Eyes’ is still upright and rescue teams spoke to her via a radio link.
The Airbus A330 aircraft had 11 trained observers to help locate the sticken yatch in the Indian Ocean and had enough fuel to patrol the area for around 2 hours. An Airline spokesperson said that she is in high spirits. The aircraft has returned back to Perth, Australia.
Earlier Abbys father Laurence Sunderland had said that her daughters life is in the hands of ‘God’. Teenage sailor Jessica Watson also sent a messege of hope to the family.
Update: Abby is fine and in high spirits, the yatch is damaged but seaworthy. However the boat closest to her will only arrive in around 24 hours and she wont be rescued until then.
Her father has said that “She’s fine, the boat’s afloat and she’s on it. It’s huge, fantastic, exciting news.”
