Francesca Schiavone Wins 2010 French Open
Francesca Schiavone has become the first Italian woman who won a Grand Slam title after a fantastic victory over Australian Sam Stosur in the French Open final.
After beating Justine Henin, Serena Williams and Jelena Jankovic, no one thought that Stosur, the leading player on clay, would lose against the 17th seed.
But Schiavone wrote history as the first Italian woman to even reach and win a Grand Slam final.
“I felt amazing. I felt really like a champion. I feel really happy, thank you to everybody.” said the world number 17.
