India Vs Zimbabwe T20I: India cruise to comfortable win

Suresh Raina stedied the India innings with a handy 28
A diciplined bowling effort from the spinners and some good middle order batting helped India overcome Zimbabwe in the first of two Twenty20 matches.
Chasing 112 for victory India made a poor start losing both openers with with just 12 on the board. Raina (28) and Sharma (10) then put on a partnership of 35 and kept the runs flowing before they both fell in quick sucession. This brought Kohli and Pathan to the crease who batted aggressively and guided India home with 5 overs to spare. Pathans scored 37 of 24 balls including 3 sixes and 2 fours.
Earlier in the day, Zimbabwe got off to a good start with Chibhabha and Ervine leading the run scoring. However they did not receive support from other batsmen as Zimbabwe collapsed from 73/3 to 107/9.
Kumar was the best of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 24 runs, but it was the spinners who were responsible for Zimbabwes slide. Ojha was the pick of the spinners with 2 wickets for just 11 runs from 4 overs, while Chawla also bowled well giving away just 14 runs from his 4 overs.
Pathan was awarded the man of the match. The second and final match of the series is tomorrow and India will hope to finish off on a winning note after a poor showing in the tri series.
