India Vs Sri Lanka 1st test: Sangakkara hits ton, 1/228 at tea

Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara scored his 22nd hundred as the Indian bowlers were punished on the first day of the opening test at Galle.

Sangakkara and Tharanga Paranavitana shared an unbeaten 173 run partnership and dominated the bowling in the second session. Sri Lanka are 1/228 at tea with Sangakkara on 100 and Paranavitana closing in on a ton with 95.

The Indian bowlers were no where near their best, Harbhajan kept things tight, but failed to pick up and wickets. Ojha meanwhile leaked runs and was never allowed to settle in.

Earlier in the day Dilshan was dismissed by debutant Mithun after Sri Lanka got off to a quick start. India has one more opportunity just before lunch, but the leading edge from Paranavitana was too quick for Gambhir at silly point.

Sri Lanka will be looking to push towards a big score in the last session, India meanwhile will be looking for some quick wickets. The pitch is not offering any assistance to the bowlers and it will be an uphill battle for the Indians.
