India Vs Sri Lanka, day 3: Ishant makes inroads

Paceman Ishant Sharma struck twice to pegged back Sri Lanka with two wickets on the third day of the first test in Galle.

Sri Lanka were in a good position and started the morning at 2/256, but soon found themselves in trouble, thanks to some good bowling from Ishant Sharma and Abhimanyu Mithun.

The duo produced a much better performance from what they displayed on the first days and soon reaped rewards as Sharma induced an edge from Tharanga Paranavitana which was taken by wicketkeeper MS Dhoni.

Mithun also picked up a wicket next over, with a ball that came back from off stump, trapping Samaraweera LBW. But it was Ishants day, picking up another two wickets, that of dangerman Mahela Jayawardene and all rounder Angelo Mathews.

Sri Lanka were 6/360 a short while ago, not something many expected given the Indian bowlers perfomances on the first day.  India will be hoping to wrap up the Sri Lankan innings as soon as possible and give themselves the best possible chance of winning
