Asia Cup 2010 underway, Sri Lanka bat in opener, Shoaib Akhtar returns
Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara has won the toss and chosen to bat in the first ODI of the Asia Cup 2010 against Pakistan. Maharoof and Malinga return to the side along with Mahela Jayawardene who was rested for the tour of Zimbabwe earlier this month.
Speaking at the toss Sangakkara said that the Asia Cup is a prestigious cup for the Asian countries and that the young squad are confident of winning.
Pakistan captain Shahid Afidi said the toss does not really matter if you are strong. He is confident that the team will be united and is enjoying the added responsibility and pressure of being a captain. Shoaib Akthar is back in the team for Pakistan after a long absense due to injury. 20 year old batsman Umar Amin will debut today.
