Pakistan Vs England 3rd test, day 2 highlights
Half centuries from Mohammad Yousuf and Azhar Ali have given Pakistan the upper hand on day two of the third test against England. Starting the day at 1/48, Pakistan made a terrible start losing Yasir Hameed on the second ball of the morning.
Things just got worse from there on as Salman Butt and nightwatchman Wahab Riaz were dismissed after making starts. It was then left unto Yousuf and Ali to resurrect the Pakistani innings and they did so with diligence.
Yousuf looked sublime on his return to international cricket, while Ali proved why he has made it this far so soon. Yousuf scored 56, before he became Graeme Swann’s 100th test victim.
This did not deter Ali, who went on to combine for a 50 run stand with Umar Akmal, before batting with the tail to take Pakistan’s score past 300. Ali finished unbeaten on 92 on 176 balls, an innings that also including 15 fours. Pakistan were dismissed for 308 giving them a handy 75 run lead.
Englands second innings started badly after captain Andrew Strauss was removed in the very first over for 4 runs. England were 1/6 at stumps; nightwatchman James Anderson has 2 , which Alastair Cook is yet to score.
