Pakistan Vs England 3rd test, day 1 highlights
A scoreline of 7/94 in the first hour is not something unusual in this series, except this time it was England who were at the receiving end. Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Andrew Strauss’ side were made to grind as debutant Wahab Riaz weaved his magic.
However it was Matt Prior who along with Stuart Broad brought England back into the game with a 119 run partnership. Prior scored a dashing 84 which included 14 fours, while broad made 48. Together they took England past 200, before Anderson and Finn begged ducks to close off the innings for 233.
In reply Pakistan are 1/48, with Hameed on 36 and nightwatchman Riaz on 0. Farhat was the man out for 11 in the closing moments of the day. Pakistan will be very happy at the end of the days play, however they will be dissapointed with the way they let Prior and Broad run away with the game when they should have shut the gates.
England on the other hand will be happy with a score of 233. However they do have some serious batting issues to address in the second innings, including Alastair Cook who once again got a low score.
