Wahab Riaz claims 5 wickets on debut
Pakistans bowling stocks received another boost as youngster Wahab Riaz produced an impressive performance to pick up a 5 wicket haul on debut. His start was a bit wobbly, being hit for two fours by Andrew Strauss in his very first over. However he got his back in the second over, inducing a huge edge from Strauss.
From there on there was no looking back. A couple of overs later he had Trott back in the pavillion, before claiming the prized scalp of Pietersen on a wicket that did not offer all that much to the bowlers.
His first spell had England tottering at 5/70 at lunch, and he returned soon after to remove Morgan. He bolwed with pace and was consistently in the low to mid 140’s (kph). He kept up the pressure on England all throughout and bowled superbly with Mohammad Asif.
The 25 year old has strengthened Pakistans bowling stocks which features the likes of Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir and Umar Gul. Add Mohammad Sami, Mohammad Irfan and Tanvir Ahmed to the list of reserves and Pakistans fast bowling future certainly looks secure.
