Cyanide mining technologies should be banned in the EU
The European Parliament has recently adopted a resolution that forbids the use of cyanide in the mine exploiting areas in the European Union countries.
The result was clear. The resolution passed with 444 votes in favor of the resolution, 48 against and 57 abstentions.
Although the resolution has not been enforced yet the decision raises a huge question mark on the future of the mining industry relying on the cyanide supplies in Europe.
There is no doubt, however that this resolution will become legally enforced in no time, as medium protection is one of the main objectives of the EU strategies of development.
