Instead of 9th May celebration, Europe undergoes major crisis

On May the 9th, 1950 in the light of the political events of that time- the  threat of an outbreak of World War III in Europe, French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman  read before the international press a declaration asking France, Germany and other European countries to gather their coal and steel production in a single sector , thus placing the cornerstone of an European federation.

EU leaders meeting at the summit in Milan in 1985, decided to celebrate Europe Day on May the 9th.

So Europe celebrates today 60 years. Not a very happy birthday if the cake tastes bitter. After six decades, our continent is going through a critical phase: the economic crisis, French journalists write in Le Figaro.

Greek tragedy has triggered economic chaos in the euro area and  instead of congratulations, Europe receives today criticism and advice.
