Bulgaria: Amendment to allow advertising of drugs

An amendment that allows the dissemination of advertising images for narcotic drugs appeared in the Official Gazette of Bulgaria without the consent of the  Parliament or the President’s, reports Novinite, quoted by Mediafax.

A parliamentary committee was established in Bulgaria to examine the circumstances of its occurrence.

Commission will be chaired by a member of the ruling party GERB Rumen Ivanov  and Maia Manilova representing the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) in opposition.

The Parliament established a deadline of one month for the Commission to decide whether the amendment constitutes a violation of the Constitution and of the  Rules of  the Bulgarian Parliament.

Bulgarian Socialists have warned that the incident could hide possible corruption because advertising of illegal drugs would benefit firms that could total up to ten million leva (5.1 million euros), according to socialists’s calculations .
