Users file lawsuits after iPhone 4 antenna problems
Angey iPhone 4g users have filed lawsuits against Apple after the phone was plagued with reception problems. The lawsuited filed in US federal courts sight false advertising and breach of warranty as the reasons.
Users of the iPhone have reported that the reception drops out when the phone is held in a certain way, and in some instances making it impossible to make calls and type text messeges. Apple CEO Steve Jobs added fuel to the burning fire telling users to “just avoid holding it that way.”
A claim filed in San Jose, California, by Alan Benevisty – on behalf of people who bought it after it was released – claims that the phone loses signal strength or the signal drops out altogether when his had covers the bottom left corner.
Apple meanwhile has urged consumers to use a special case that can fix the problem. However the case costs around $30.
Another user Christopher Dydyk, claims that the case “simultaneously detracts from the aesthetic value of the phone.”
This makes the phone that customers receive “significantly different from the phones those customers agreed to purchase”. He is suing on behalf of people who pre-ordered the phone.
