Bulgaria will have ‘the cheapest highway in Europe’
Bulgarian Unified Trace Highway Consortium has offered a price of 2.2 million euros / km for the construction of a section of the Thrace highway. This is is the lowest price offered in Europe.
Thrace motorway will link the city of Burgas on the Black Sea coast to the capital Sofia and the Serbian border.
” The price of 2.2 million euros / km offered by the consortium that will build a section of 32 kilometers of highway is the lowest price in Europe”, said Bulgarian Minister of Regional Development, Plevneliev Rosen in an interview for Agerpres .
Officials in Sofia believe that the price reached 2.2 million euros / km as a result of financial crisis and a fair competition.
