Apple iPad to be Launched in Asia – price $800 to $1020

Apple iPad to be launched in Asia
Apple iPad’s second Asia-Pacific launch is about to get started, marking long queues from users in Singapore, Hong Kong and New Zealand.
First launched in Japan and Australia, fans liked the new iPad so much that some customers have even ordered the set from abroad.
“Why should we try to compete. These things are selling so well that we’ll have to get more soon. We don’t need to lower prices.” asked a clerk in Pro International Communication, a store near Taipei’s Guang Hua computer market.
Early iPads are being sold at premium prices for the Taiwanese consumers. Only the two Taipei stores maintain identical prices, $800 for the 16GB model, $925 for the 32GB version and $1,020 for the 64GB iPad.
Apple lists the U.S. retail prices at $499, $599 and $699, respectively.
