Nuclear talks to resume in September: Ahmadinejad

President Ahmadinejad

President Ahmadinejad said Iran was ready to start the long awaited nuclear talks with super powers in September, The Islamic Republic’s Press TV reported today.

“Iran will resume nuclear talks with the west in September. But Iran wants Turkey and Brazil should also take part in negotiations” added Ahmadinejad.

EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton visited Iran in June. Speculations were made about resuming the talk process afterwards. The foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki had said earlier this month that talk process could start in September.

Western power fears that Iran is trying to make nuclear bomb, which is always denied by the Islamic republic.

European Union has put new sanctions on the energy sector of Iran in an attempt to freeze its sensitive nuclear fuel enrichment program. Canada and United States followed the suit. They are driving international efforts to stop Iran’s atomic program.

Brazil and Turkey has refused to give their support to new sanctions. They have prepared a road map for swapping nuclear fuel with Tehran. They are offering Iran to ship half of its low- enriched uranium in exchange for nuclear fuel.

Earlier on June 28, Ahmadinejad announced that he was freezing nuclear talks to oppose fourth set of sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council three weeks earlier.
