Nuclear Reprocessing pact signed by both United States and India
On Friday, both the United States and India formally signed an agreement. The agreement, which was signed by Bill Burns the Undersecretary of State for the US and H.E. Meera Shankar the Indian Ambassador to the United States.
The agreement is all about the reprocessing spent nuclear fuel. The US officials are hoping that this agreement would allow American firms a share of India’s nuclear energy market that would total up to $150 billion.
The nuclear reprocessing act will give India an access to the United States fuel and technology that also opens a market globally to India.
The pact is expected to take effect in early August of this year 2010.
