Serena Williams ready for US Open after foot surgery
After cutting her foot on a broken glass at a restaurant, Serena Williams is to undergo foot surgery, thing which will make her miss three tournaments leading to the U.S. Open, the WTA Tour said on Saturday.
The top-ranked women’s player has already withdrawn from tournaments in Istanbul, Cincinnati and Montreal.
“I’m so upset I won’t be able to play in the upcoming events because of this foot surgery” Serena said.
“Thank you for all of your support. I can’t wait to get back on the courts.”
Next tour Williams will play on would be US Open, at the end of August: 30 August – 12 September
