Sharapova moves to the semis
Maria Sharapova reached her fourth semi-final of the year when she defeated fellow Russian Elena Dementieva 6-4 2-6 6-3 at the Stanford Classic in California after a two hours and 47 minutes match, which was the longest of the tournament.
Losing the second set to the number two seed Dementieva fifth seeded Sharapova responded to by going agressive got her reward.
She now will face Agnieszka Radwanska, in the last four.
Number three seed Radwanska eased to a 7-5 6-0 victory over Russian Kirilenko.
Dementieva, playing in her first tournament since the French Open after the shoulder injury said she was satisfied with her performance despite losing.
