Spain win World Cup final 1-0
Spain have won the FIFA World Cup 2010 after a gripping contest against Netherlands. Both teams played very well, but neither could be separated until the very last moments of the second extra time. In the end it was who booted the decisive goal.
Spain started well early and dominated the first 15 minutes like they did in the last few games. They had most of the possession and also had a couple of shots at goal which were missed. Netherlands however managed to hold on and draged themselves back into the game.
The second half was much more fierce and produced some of the best football of the tournament. No one could pick the winner and the game rightly went into extra time
The game featured plenty of yellow cards especially in the first half. The most dangerous incident happened when De Jong’s foot hit Alonso’s chest during a challenge.
Gregory van der Wiel and Nigel de Jong returned from suspension for Netherlands, however Spain went in unchanged.
