Stoke City: £12 million transfer for Carlton Cole from West Ham

A record transfer fee for West Ham United striker Carlton Cole is said to have been given the green-light by Stoke City’s top-brass, breaking their club’s previous record for individual transfer fee.

The Daily Mirror reported saying that a staggering £12 million is offered for the 26-year-old former England international by the Potters.

West Ham’s co-owner, David Sullivan, has publically stated he is willing to listen to offers for any player this summer, apart from captain Scott Parker.

Cole, who could potentially boost the Hammer’s coffers with a large transfer fee, missed out on a place in England’s World Cup 2010 squad.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis is on the lookout for for a number of attacking additions this summer reports suggest, his sides goalless pre-season friendly last week against Notts County may have prompted him with the need.

Hammers wants to buy at least two new strikers from Cole’s potential sale; one of which is reportedly the 22-year-old Argentine striker Milton Caragilo who currently plays for Roasario Central, holds an Italian passport and is currently in Italy talks with interested clubs. He’s due in England next week for talks with West Ham’s board.
