FIFA World Cup Final – Nelson Mandela appears at Soccer City
South Africa Soccer WCup Final Netherlands Spain
Just before the World Cup final match started, Nelson Mandela made his appearance at Soccer City to wave the fans.
Driven in a small golf cart and seated alongside wife, Mandela was welcomed by a large number of vuvuzelas and roars from the crowd.
Earlier, Shakira performed “Waka Waka” (“This Time for Africa”,) the competition’s official song.
Plenty of people had doubted South Africa would be able to stage a successful tournament, but the whole event went just as planned.
