Blackburn Rovers offers £2 million for Aston Villa striker Heskey

A bid of £2 million for Aston Villa’s goal-shy striker Emile Heskey is being prepared by manager Sam Allardyce of Blackburn Rovers. Rovers are in the hunt for a new frontman this summer following their lack of attacking options. Reports from the Daily Mirror suggest that the powerful frontman tops the list of desired players by the club and Allardyce has publicly claimed his side would like to get him.

Heskey has fallen down the pecking order at Villa Park due to his lack of goals and the form of fellow frontman John Carew.

In order to remove another top earner from the wage bill Villa manager Martin O’Neill is expected and keen to offload his mis-firing striker

Following England’s poor performance at World Cup 2010 Heskey has recently retired from international football. Although Allardyce believes he could restore the former Liverpool and Leicester City goal-getter’s confidence.

Rovers are the target of a takeover bid from a group of Indian businessmen and Allardyce has voiced his concern over the club’s inactivity in the transfer window this summer. What happens to the club will only be known with time.
