Manchester City's Yaya Toure turned down offer from ManU

The Ivory Coast international, Yaya Toure, Manchester City’s this summer’s signing revealed he had previously turned down an offer to play for their bitter rivals Manchester United.

His transfer fee from Barcelona was reportedly costed £24 million and a commanding weekly wages of around £200,000. He is one of three high-profile players to join Roberto Mancini’s squad over the closed season.

Toure admitted the Citizens were not the only offer he received when he made his decision to leave the Nou Camp. He mentioned his motivation for moving to new clubs was based more on football-related issues rather than money.

Champions League football next season is where Toure aims is to guide his new employers to, also he desires to establish them as a serious Premier League title contenders.

Manchester United was interested in signing him last year, revealed Toure to The Guardian.

When there were talks about renewing his contract, United asked if he wanted to sign for them. He added that in football, you don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow.

Even though United is a big club, one of the biggest in the world, but Toure chose [Manchester] City because they have not won anything for a long time.
