Obama to send troops to border

President Obama will send up to 1,200 National Guard troops to the southwest border to combat drug smuggling and to seek increased spending on law enforcement there, border security is being tightened.

The troops will be stationed for a year, in the four order states but their arrival is not certain.

The troops will provide support to the law enforcement officers by monitoring trafficking patterns between official border crossings and hunt the drug smugglers.

The shooting death of an Arizona rancher led to the growth of calls for sending the guards to the border. Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona has also requested Guard troops at the border.
