Taylor to lead New Zealand in Sri Lanka tri-series
New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori and wicket keeper Brendon McCullum have been rested from the one day squad which is due to play a tri series in Sri Lanka next month. Batsman Ross Taylor will take charge of the side in Vettori absense.
New Zealand chairman of selectors Mark Greatbatch said this would be a a great opportunity for Taylor to gain some leadership experience. Kyle Mills has been named vice captain, while rookie batsman Kane Williamson has also been included in the squad. Meanwhile Jesse Ryder makes his return from injury.
The tri series will also invloves India and host nation Sri Lanka. New Zealand first game is against India on the 10th of August, followed by Sri Lanka on the 13th.
