Uruguay VS Ghana quarter final preview | FIFA World Cup 2010
Uruguay and Ghana are two sides that not many predicted would make it to the top eight. Uruguay last made it to the quarter finals in 1970, while Ghana have never made it this far.
Ghana finished took second place in group D behind Germany, a result many did not expect. Along the way they have upset fans from Serbia with a 1-0 win over them, and held Australia to a 0-0 draw. They capped this off with a 2-1 win against the USA in the round of 16.
Uruguay did not have an east tournamet either having had to deal with France, South Africa and Mexico in the group stages. Their tournament started strongly holding France to a 0-0 draw, this was followed wins agianst South Africa and Mexico to claim first place in group A .
Uruguay strikers Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez will be the ones to watch, having scored in the previous games when their teams needed it the most.
Ghana boosts the youngest teams in the tournament, but they have shown a lot of promise. Uraguay however, have a very dynamic attatck and it will be up to the Ghana veteran John Mensah to bind his side together to stop this attack.
Uruguay will no doubt be the favourites, but any complacency will see them falter. Ghanas Asamoah Gyan has scored 7 out of the 11 goals tha his side has scored in international football this year. He will be a key player if they are to upset Uraguay.
