Apple’s iPhone replaces BlackBerry for some bankers
British Standard Chartered Group has replaced BlackBerry smart phones, currently the preferred mobile communication platform of the bank, with the iPhone, a decision which could lead to the transfer of tens of thousands of customers from Canadian Research In Motion company to Apple.
Asian bankers close to Standard Chartered said that the group gives employees and partners the option to replace the BlackBerrys with iPhones, and that the company would continue to pay monthly the bills for the mobile services .
Analysts believe that if other banks decide to switch to other smartphones companies, Research In Motion could face a tough blow.
But internal testing processes prior to such action usually last long enough for RIM to react and try to solve any customer complaints or issues that might lead to changes in phone companies.
