YouTube celebrates five years
This week the most popular video site has celebrated five years of life.
With two billion page views daily, YouTube has a huge success worldwide.
The site created by Chad Hurley and Steve Chen became a cultural phenomenon almost overnight. It had already collected eight million views in just six weeks after the launching.
In less than a year, Google Inc.. bought the company 1.65 billion dollars.
“The purpose of the company was to show that anyone can have a voice, anyone can make a video and everyone can have an audience,” said Hunter Walk, YouTube managing director.
For this anniversary, YouTube has prepared a list of the most popular and influential videos of all these years, and documentaries about how YouTube has changed our lifes.
