David Cameron, the youngest prime minister of Great Britain
After the historic coalition between the conservatives and liberal democrats, David Cameron accepted the invitation of Queen Elizabeth II to form the next government in the UK.
This is the first time in seven decades when a coalition takes the power, the BBC notes.
When he reached number 10 Downing Street, residence of British Prime Minister, David Cameron has officially announced its intention to form a government with the Liberal Democrats: “It will be a hard and difficult work. A coalition rises all sorts of problems. But I believe that together we can give the country a stable government, efficient and convenient that this state so desperately needs. ”
He left Downing accompanied by his wife and children and went to Buckingham Palace to present his resignation to the Queen, Euronews writes.
Brown left the Labour Party and the presidency and at least temporarily retired from political life. Thus ended 13 years of Labour government.
At 43, David Cameron becomes the youngest British prime minister in the last 200 years after Robert Banks Jenkinson in 1812.
