Benjamin Netanyahu: Jerusalem, an undivided capital
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the name and alternative name of the city of Jerusalem, Zion, appear in the Old Testament 850 times, a lot more than in any other religious books.
Jerusalem is mentioned 142 times in the New Testament, but none of the Arabic 16 names of the city is mentioned in the Koran. Thus, Israeli Prime Minister has justified his claims on the fact that Jerusalem is the real capital of the indivisible Israel.
Statements were made during the parliamentary session that was due to commemorate Israel’s occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967, according to Reuters.
Palestinians want East Jerusalem to become capital of the future Palestinian state.
Related to the Benjamin Netanyahu allegations, Saeb Erekat, chief of the Palestinian negotiators said it seemed very distasteful that religion should be used to incite to hatred.
