NYC Triathlon – Man dies during the race

NYC Triathlon
More than 3000 athletes made their appearance for the three tasks in the Nautica New York City Triathlon.
What really concerns the racers are the high temperatures they have to face during the race consisting of a 1500m swim, a 40k bike, and a 10k run.
Racers of the NYC Triathlon begin by swimming through the waters of the Hudson River, then bike along Manhattan’s West Side Highway, and finish with a run through Central Park.
There was even a 32-year-man who died while swimming in Hudson River:
“To lose an athlete is tragic and everybody’s very sad,” race director Bill Bruke said.
“The athlete completed about two-third of the swim course and had some problems in the water,” Burke added.
“Some swimmers noticed him having some problems and called for help.”
The Nautica New York City Olympic distance triathlon have participating athletes from 44 states and 23 countries, said Martta Rose Kelly, public relations associate at Rubenstein Associates Inc.
