Three Australian soldiers killed in Afghanistan, 7 injured
The Australian Defence Force has just announced that three Australian soldiers have been killed in a chopper crash in Afghanistan. The Chopper was carrying 15 men, including 10 Australians and were from the ‘Special Operations Task Group’. Seven other soldiers have been injured, however details of the soldiers have not yet been released.
This tragedy follows the deaths of two Australian soliders who were killed just two weeks ago. Of the seven injured, two are in serious conditions – one has undergone surgery, while another is in intensive care. Details of the incident are unknown, but it is not attributed to combat. Another chopper which was in close vicinity of the ill fated chopper managed to land quickly and evacuate the injured.
Another soldier was also killed in the crash, he is believed to be from the US. This has been one of the deadliest months for international troops in Afghanistan, 57 have been killed so far, including 35 Americans and 5 Australians. This latest tragedy takes the Australian death toll in Afghanistan to 16.
