Several storms have killed 54 people in India
Violent storms in northern and eastern India have killed, according to authorities, at least 54 people. Central and eastern Uttar Pradesh state were the worst affected, while in Bihar there were several deaths and numerous property damage, says CNN.
Authorities have confirmed 29 deaths in Uttar Pradesh and 25 in neighboring Bihar.
Officialsin both states had not yet established the damage to homes and infrastructure, but authorities in Bihar said they feared it could be extensive in their state.
A violent storm killed last month at least 122 people in eastern India along the border with Bangladesh, officials said. About 300,000 homes were damaged when a cyclone struck parts of West Bengal and Bihar states April 14.
