Lindsay Lohan begins 14 day jail term
Lindsay Lohan has begun serving a shortened jail sentence for violating her 2007 probation for drink driving and cocaine possession charges.
After surrendering at the Beverly Hills courtroom on Tuesday, Lohan was whisked away to an all-female jail in south Los Angeles. Judge Marsha Revel ordered that Lohan must not be released to house arrest or electronic monitoring. She also ordered photographers not to take any photos of Lohan being handcuffed and taken into custody.
Lohan will only serve 14 days of her 90 day sentence due to overcrowding at the facility. A spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that reduced sentences were common for non violent inmates, and good behaviour is also rewarded.
Lohans mother and sister also accompanied her to the courtroom, and she was represented by attorney Shawn Chapman Holley, who has quit the just a few days ago.
Lohan will wear an orange jumpsuit and will only be able to spend an hour outside her cell to use fitness facilities and for a shower.
