Chinese consumers ‘go green’
On the eastern coast of China in Qingdao city, Tsingtao beer is the pride of the people.
Recently the Tsingtao Brewery Group was accused of violating environmental standards. The chairwoman of Green Earth Volunteers Wang Yongchen claims that this campaign is a beginning to let the public know that many brand name productors damage the environment.
The Green Choice Consumer Action list was published online, where China’s massive Internet population is noising about it. Some people say Chinese people shouldn’t buy products from these companies; others claim that green brands are expensive, while big brands are reliable.
A brand survey shows that consumers in China are actually more concerned about green issues than consumers in the United States or Europe.
Tsingtao Brewery Corporation requested us to tour their factory with their top environmental director who claims that Tsingtao makes everything to reduce the negative effect to the environment. The company has invested $18 million over the last three years to improve environmental practices.
