Millions of bees die in the world annually

Official data shows that the decline in U.S. bee population is growing every year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the lowering effects of honey production also cause huge losses for farmers.

The reduced population of bees  affects the United States, and  brings farmers a loss of  about 15 billion dollars (over 11 billion euros), because many crops depend on bees for pollination.

Scientists call this phenomenon “Colony collapse anomaly” (CCD – Colony Collapse Disorder), characterized by the sudden disappearance of bees from their hive leaving no corpses nearby.

Millions of adult bees in the world, including Europe, have disappeared, but researchers failed to ascertain with certainty the cause.

They examined the incidence of viruses, the parasites of certain insecticides,  malnutrition causes  and verified various other factors in the environment.

Scientists believe that mass extinction of bees is the result of a cumulation of factors, including destruction of their natural habitats and the excessive use of pesticides .
