Far East green tea flavour
The history of tea began in China as this country is the homeland of tea bush. Green tea drink has been known in China since around 3000 BC.
According to the legend, Emperor Shen Nung noticed that fresh green tea leaves boiled in water made it not only colorful but also gave it a delicious taste. Enthusiastic about his discovery, the king who experienced the stimulatory effect of tea, is considered in China as the discoverer of tea.
In the next period, the Chinese began cultivating tea bush, first in the gardens of monasteries, where tea was regarded as tonic and cure, rather than a delicacy. Chinese green tea solved their problems related to fatigue, headaches, concentration.
In the first century AD, the king then put tax on alcoholic beverages, therefore tea’s popularity rose and so it began to be cultivated outside the walls of monasteries as well.
In the seventh century AD, tea eventually spread to all strata of Chinese society, turning the product into a pleasant drink company. Many scholars wrote treatises on how to prepare and culture green tea and about the different varieties of green tea.
Tea began to be exported to Tibet and Mongolia and by smuggling tea seeds arrived in Japan as well.
