Sarkozy cancelled participation at the Victory Parade held in the Red Square tomorrow
The French Embassy in Moscow announced that President Nicolas Sarkozy has canceled participation at the ceremonies held in Moscow for Victory Day, because of the “financial crisis” in the euro area.
“Given the financial crisis facing the euro area the President of the Republic should remain in France to discuss with various interlocutors,” stated the spokesman in Moscow, Thomas Buffin .
France will be represented at the ceremonies by the ambassador, Jean De Gliniasty.
For the first time,the Moscow parade will be attended by British, French and American troops , as well as 10,500 Russian troops. At the ceremony more than 25 foreign leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel will assist while Britain, the United States and France will be represented by ambassadors.
