Famine in the arid belt of Africa

Usually, during this time of year, Gadabeji Reserve is full of refugees such as the nomadic tribes who travel to graze their cattle. But, after the drought killed the last year’s crops, the grass is meager now.

The cattle have become very weak to stand and are too skinny to sell. Hence, there’s no way out for the poor. The only way left is to buy the grain and feed their families.

There’s also a warning from the U.N. World Food Program that some 10 million people face hunger over the next 3 months before the second harvest in September.
