Steve Jobs defends China Foxconn factory conditions

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has recently defended the working conditons at a Taiwanese electronics firm that produces the firm’s popular iPhone, following a spate of suicides.

The statement came at the All Things Digital Conference. As many as 13 suicides and suicide attempts have been know till date at the factory Foxconn factory which manufacturers electronic gadgets for companies such as Dell, Nokia and Apple.

Previously the management had planned to give a raise of 20% to the workers but now the percentage has been increased to 30%.

Steve Jobs said that this measure would help in improving the condition of the workers and give them more leisure time as it is very important for the health of the workers.
